Located in a converted sawmill by the river in a central location in the town, Bakewell Arts and Design is a creative collective offering both private and communal studios, a variety of display space and the intention to host shows and events.

Our aim is to provide a showcase of creative practices and products from the peak district and surrounding counties as well as selected examples from further afield.

Our focus is on providing space not just to work and produce in but to cultivate and build business relationships and success.

Built with love and goodwill
Standing since sixteen eighty four
Renovated so we can all ardour

Sitting high above the quaint old town
Bakewell scattered all around
Standing proud in all its glory
I’m sure this building can tell a story

From Bagshaw Hall we hear the sound
Church bells pealing all around
Luring folks to their mystical sound
As they have done on years gone by

Thinking memories of the past
How much longer can this hall last
For three hundred years and more
The halls held open its front door

Through the good times and the bad
The halls strong walls were built to last
So Bagshaw Hall I give you good cheer
For at least the next three hundred years

Bagshaw Hall "A gem in the Peak District"

“This is a delightful C17th hall, now converted into self-catering holiday apartments. Each apartment has been given its own character, and all enjoy a location above Bakewell town centre, just three minutes’ walk away. The town is easily accessed by A roads, and benefits from excellent restaurants and pubs which serve quality food and wine.
Our stay was wonderful. The room was extremely spacious, and great thought has obviously gone into the conversion of the property. Each guest is provided with a gown and slippers, and the catering and bathroom fittings are high quality. The room was spotless on arrival, but also easy to keep clean.
On arrival, the owner was unavoidably out, but had thoughtfully made arrangements for us to settle in. We met her later and mentioned our plans to eat at a local restaurant that evening. Instantly she handed us a discount card! It is this kind of unobtrusive but thoughtful service which makes this place such a gem. Others could learn lessons from Bagshaw Hall.”

Ground floor apartment with views of front garden of the hall and it’s own “front door” off a private terrace area with feature fountain and outside seating.

Apartment on one level comprising entrance hall with shower room, separate kitchen & breakfast room with ceramic hob/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher and sink. Large living/dining room with original shutters to windows, marble fireplace with “real” fire and sofa bed for 2 persons.

Main bedroom wing, with super king-size bed, fitted furniture and luxury en-suite bathroom with double ended bath, separate shower, w.c, and spacious vanity unit.

Second bedroom with king-size bed and oriental style furniture and décor.

Flat-screen T.V, DVD, and C.D player with ipod dock and radio.
